Skip bins for Miami's mixed streets.
Miami's story starts in the early 1920s with Miami Shore, a real estate development at North Burleigh named after Miami Shores in Florida. Buyers put up timber and fibro bungalows on estates like it. Miami Shore Parade shares the old estate's name. Today the Gold Coast Highway runs north to south through the suburb. Hythe Street leads from the highway down to the beach, while Christine Avenue and Pacific Avenue connect to the west, with the Pizzey Park sporting complex on Pacific Avenue.
Houses, duplexes and units in near-equal measure
At the 2021 Census, Miami's homes split almost evenly three ways: about 31 per cent separate houses, 32 per cent townhouses, duplexes and other attached homes, and 37 per cent flats or apartments. That makes placement the first thing to sort out. A single driveway usually takes a 3m or 4m skip. Where a duplex shares a driveway, agree on it with your neighbour first, and in a unit complex check the body-corporate rules before you book.
Jobs that suit the suburb
Typical work here ranges from a bathroom or kitchen refresh in a unit to gutting an older cottage, through to knock-down-rebuild projects that call for a 9m or the 15m hook bin. If your place has old fibro, take care. Queensland's building regulator, the QBCC, says a house built before 1990 has a good chance of containing some asbestos, and asbestos is banned from every bin we hire. Have suspect sheeting tested before it comes down.
Permits on Miami streets
Keep the skip on your own land and you won't need a permit. If it has to go on the road, the footpath or the nature strip, the City of Gold Coast requires one. Applying is up to you as the customer, and you carry full responsibility for it; we don't arrange permits.
Pick your size.
3m³ skip bin
Weekend clean-ups, small bathroom or kitchen renos.
4m³ skip bin
Most popular all-rounder. Suits heavy waste like dirt and brick.
6m³ skip bin
Large house clear-outs and bigger renovation jobs.
Good to know.
How quickly can you deliver a skip bin to Miami?
Book at least 36 hours ahead and we deliver to Miami 4220 on your chosen date, with an AM or PM preference. Book before midday for next-day delivery to Miami.
Do I need a council permit for a skip bin in Miami?
Not if the bin stays on your own property in Miami. If it needs to go on the road, footpath or nature strip, a City of Gold Coast permit applies. You'll need to arrange it, and it's your responsibility.
What size skip bin do I need in Miami?
It depends on the building. For a bathroom or kitchen refresh in a Miami unit or townhouse, a 3m or 4m skip is usually enough. Gutting an older cottage is more of a 6m or 9m job, and a full knock-down suits the 15m hook bin, possibly more than one. Dirt is capped at a 4m³ bin and concrete at 6m³, so call us to split anything heavier across bins.
Can a skip bin go on a shared duplex driveway in Miami?
Yes, as long as the driveway is private land and whoever shares it agrees, since the bin may block their access for the hire period. If the duplex has a body corporate, check its rules too. If the bin ends up on the street instead, a City of Gold Coast permit applies, and arranging it is your responsibility.
